The Nigerian Senate has approved the second term tenures of Aishah Ahmad and Edward Adamu as deputy governors of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
The duo were renominated by President Muhammadu Buhari for the approval of the Red Chamber.
The two appointees passed through the screening of the banking committee last week.
The banking committee, confronted them with questions on the trending cashless and withdrawal limit policies of the CBN.
“Agents could perform an increasing variety of transactions including cash in cash out, bill payments and even account opening. Under the CBN’s SANEF initiative, the agent network had grown to 1.4 million agents available in every local government in Nigeria,” Ahmad had said.
“The various options open to Nigerians to perform financial transactions including mobile money, USSD, internet banking, mobile apps, eNaira, agents and mobile POS etc.
“All of these would ensure that Nigerians would seamlessly adapt to the cashless policy to enable financial inclusion and economic growth.”
They were confirmed by the Nigerian senators, Wednesday, following the presentation of report on the CBN policies by the chairman of the senate banking committee, Senator Uba Sani.
Sani revealed that the nominees were up to the task and met the necessary requirements of the screening committee.
