Leaders and stakeholders of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) gathered in Kwara State for a Ramadan lecture and Iftar hosted by the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Prince Adewole Adebayo.

The event, aimed at fostering unity and reflection, featured a lecture, breaking of fast, and a meet-and-greet session.

Among the dignitaries present were former Minister of Youth and Sports, Barrister Solomon Dalong; political leader and founder of the Kwara Redemption Movement (KRM), Chief Iyiola Oyedepo Akogun; SDP’s 2023 senatorial candidate, Dr Ridwan Apaokagi; and the State Chairman of SDP, Dr Afeez Afolabi, among others.

Speaking at the event, Chief Iyiola Akogun stated that the Ótógé movement, which was instrumental in dislodging the previous administration in 2019, did not serve the interests of ordinary Kwarans.

He emphasized that the Kwara Redemption Movement (KRM) has emerged to correct this and set things right.

In his remarks, Dr Ridwan Apaokagi praised Kwara State for delivering SDP’s best election result despite various political challenges.

The first guest lecturer, Sheikh Tajudeen Sholagberu Omoalubarika, stressed the importance of preparation and good intentions in governance.

He urged Nigerians to vote for candidates based on individual merit rather than party affiliation.

The second guest lecturer, Sheikh Foreign Olanbiwonninu Akanbi, spoke on key qualities for good leadership, highlighting patience during difficult times, strong faith in Allah, and fairness in governance.

He reminded politicians that their time in office is temporary and encouraged them to promote inclusiveness and kindness.

In his remarks, the host, Prince Adewole Adebayo Esq., expressed gratitude for the hospitality and support he has always received in Kwara State, including during his campaign.

He called for unity and peace among party members, urging them to uphold these values in the spirit of the holy month of Ramadan.
