Schools not affected by curfew — Kwara Govt

Following the relaxation of the 24-hour curfew earlier imposed on Ilorin, the state capital, by Kwara governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, from 6p.m. to 8a.m., speculations and different questions have been going around the social and mainstream media, asking about the faith of the school students as regard the curfew imposition.

But when the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr. Rafiu Ajakaye, was contacted, he said, “Schools are to open. We however urge the school authorities and our parents to note the extraordinary time we are in, hence they may have to allow students to resume a little bit above the normal resumption hour of 8 a.m. as a result of the curfew time which is now between 6p.m. to 8 a.m. until further notice.

He, however, explained that this affects only schools in the Ilorin metropolis.

Meanwhile, The Informant247 having been confided in, earlier, by a top official of the government who clarified that schools aren’t affected in the earlier imposition of curfew.

The official who pleaded for anonymity said, “They can just resume around 8:45am because of the peculiarities of the time.

He clarified further that the governments were intentionally quiet on schools because they didn’t mention schools in the first statement announcing the curfew.
