Saudi Arabia announces sighting of Dhul Hijjah crescent
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has officially announced the sighting of the Dhul Hijjah crescent, marking the commencement of the 12th month in the Islamic lunar calendar. In a message shared on Tuesday by Haramain, a Saudi-based online news platform, it was noted that “Wednesday would be the first day of Dhul Hijjah.”
The announcement further detailed significant dates for the upcoming days, stating, “June 5 would be the day of Arafat,” and “June 6 would be the day of Eid-el-Adha,” which is celebrated as the largest festival in the Muslim calendar.
Dhul Hijjah is revered as a sacred month, characterized by heightened devotion, reflection, and acts of worship among Muslims worldwide.
