Saraki-led PDP reconciliation committee meets Enugu gov to address crisis

The Special Reconciliation Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), led by former Senate President Dr. Bukola Saraki, convened on Friday with Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State, aiming to address ongoing crises within the party.

The closed-door meeting, held at the Government House in Enugu, also featured notable committee members, including former Bayelsa Governor Senator Seriake Dickson and former Gombe Governor Dr. Ibrahim Dankwambo.

This meeting follows a recent communique from South East PDP leaders, who have insisted on the re-nomination of former National Youth Leader Sunday Udeh-Okoye to fulfill the remaining tenure of National Secretary. They have warned of potential consequences for the party if their decision is disregarded.

Post-meeting, Saraki highlighted the significance of the South East in the PDP’s framework and praised the regional leadership. “We appreciate the importance of the South East in our PDP family,” he stated, underscoring the region’s crucial role in the party’s strength and popularity.

The discussions focused on ensuring a peaceful National Executive Council (NEC) meeting and upcoming convention, with Saraki expressing optimism about overcoming challenges. “Today, we laid the foundation for a greater new PDP that is coming,” he concluded, reflecting on the inspiring commitment of the party’s leaders.
