Mallam Saliu Mustapha, the All Progressives Congress, APC, senatorial candidate in Kwara Central, has come victorious as the choice of voters in the district, defeating other candidates with wide margin, in preparation for the 2023 general elections.
In a statement made available to the public by 9japarrot Digital Media and Communications, the analytical result of the online poll to ascertain the people’s preference for the senatorial seat of Kwara Central.
Five senatorial candidates were involved in the online voting which went on for 72 hours.
The Kwara senatorial candidates that featured include: Saliu Mustapha of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Social Democratic Party, SDP’s Dr. Ridwanullah Apaokagi, People’s Democratic Party, PDP’s Bolaji Abdullahi, Aiyelabegan Kayode Abdul GOGA of New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP and Labour Party, LP’s Mall. Akanbi Umar Farouk.
The final results which were made public in early hours of Monday 31st, October 2022 showed that 67.49% of residents and voters of Kwara Central have preference for Saliu Mustapha of APC.
The results also revealed that Bolaji Abdullahi of the PDP came distant second in the online poll with 16.12%.
Unlike the governorship poll where the candidate of the SDP came victorious, here the SDP senatorial candidate, Dr Ridwanullah Apaokagi was came 3rd and got 10.47%.
The candidate of the NNPP, Aiyelabegan Kayode Abdul GOGA gathered 5.46% votes.
While Mall. Akanbi Umar Farouk, the Labour Party candidate, who was the least preferred candidate got scored 0.55% votes.
Those who responded to the survey which went on from 12am on October 27th till 11:59pm on 30th of the same month were posed a single question, who was their choice as the next Senator of Kwara Central in 2023: having the option to pick between the 5 major political candidates as enumerated above.
No fewer than 1098 persons partook and reacted to the survey which cut across the four Local Governments of the senatorial district which were; Ilorin East, Asa, Ilorin West and Ilorin South.
The survey was conducted using an online poll platform (Strawpoll) with a rehable response rate.
The results originating from the poll indicated that Saliu Mustapha was the choice of the voters among the 5 contenders because he was not able to be dislodged from the number one position from the commencement of the poll till the end.
It was gathered that the beginning of the poll had the SDP candidate, Dr Ridwanullah Apaokagi in 2nd position before he was eventually overtaken by the PDP candidate, Bolaji Abdullahi who returned him to Third position.
Aiyelabegan Kayode Abdul GOGA, the NNPP candidate, was in his fourth place throughout the online electoral session.
Saliu Mustapha massively gathered the highest vote defeating his contenders with wide margins as he’s the only one who gathered 67.49% out of 100% against his closest political challenger, Bolaji Abdullahi who got a distant 16.12%.
