Saliu Mustapha uplifts 600 Kwarans with N200m
Mallam Saliu Mustapha, a former aspirant for the National Chairmanship of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has empowered about 600 people in Kwara with N200 million.
Each beneficiary collected varied amounts of money ranging from N100,000; N200,000; N500,000; N1 million to N2 million.
The empowerment session induced the presence of influential government personages, social actors, traditional monarchs, and individuals of high repute.
Kwara State AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq in his remark appreciated the motive of the foundation and the efforts of its Chairman in ensuring that poverty becomes a thing of the past in the state and beyond.
The Turaki of Ilorin and the Chairman of the Foundation, Malam Saliu Mustapha said the 2022 edition of the empowerment programme marked the 10th year edition of the empowerment programme.
The Chairman declared that he has got a solemn desire for a financially independent society where all and sundry, regardless of birth will have enough and sufficient resources to cater for their needs and those of their families.
According to him, “While our foundation often advances financial assistance, especially to widows and the less privileged generally, we realised that in the long run what is required is to empower people in ways that they can take control of their lives and even affect the lives of those around them positively.
“This is the reason we have chosen to support those small businesses being run by youths and women, in the belief that with increased financial capacity, those businesses can grow more, increase their income and even proceed to enhance economic activities within our community.
“While our strategy and method may not have produced billionaires yet, we assure that over the years we have been able to sustain people in their businesses, boost their capacity to scale up their profits and sufficiently feed themselves and their families.
“We at the Saliu Mustapha Foundation are very proud of their achievements because our ultimate aim is to help build a society where every single person with the talent, ability and readiness to work receives the necessary support to realise their fullest potential.”
The former national deputy chairman of the defunct Congress for Progressives Change (CPC), said he is filled with excitement seeing the effect of abundance his interventions, especially in the area of SME support, would have on local economic interest.
He added that the foundation would continue to aid the people and promote a decent living at the grassroot level.
He further asserted that the foundation will not relent in its desire to bankroll small and medium businesses to great heights and alleviate poverty among the people.
Sheik Faruq Sohibul Bayan, Mall Lukman Isale-Koto and Mall. Lawal Olohungbebe in their separate lectures lauded Saliu Mustapha for his benevolent gesture, charging other politicians and individuals to reciprocate his gesture.
