Saliu Mustapha awards full scholarships to 200 Kwara central indigenes for tertiary institutions

Senator Saliu Mustapha, representing Kwara Central, has awarded full scholarships to 200 indigenes who recently gained admission into various higher institutions, as part of his commitment to supporting parents and empowering young people.

Speaking during the scholarship presentation at Peace Hall, Ilorin, on Friday, Senator Mustapha revealed that the beneficiaries were selected from the four local government areas within Kwara Central.

He explained that the scholarship would cover the indigenes’ tuition fees from their first year to their final year.

“Education is the best form of empowerment you can give to an individual. It not only reduces social vices but also strengthens and uplifts society,” Senator Mustapha said. “I believe in education, which is why I am investing in these young people. They are not affiliated with any political party; their only goal is to achieve success in life, and we are showing them the way.

“By 2025, God willing, we will introduce WAEC, NECO, and JAMB scholarships for another set of indigenes. I encourage parents and guardians to motivate their children to study hard and achieve their dreams,” he added.

The Chairman of the occasion, Professor Shuaib Oba Abdulraheem, praised the Senator for his investment in the future of the beneficiaries.

The former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin noted that the scholarship program would ease the financial burden on parents and urged the beneficiaries to excel in their studies to make the Senator proud.

The event, which began with prayers led by the Chief Imam of Ilorin Emirate, Shaykh (Dr) Muhammad Bashir Saliu, was attended by traditional titleholders, religious leaders, and stakeholders from Kwara Central.

The National President of the Ilorin Emirate Development Progressive Union (IEDPU), Retired ACG AbdulMalik AbdulMumin, and other dignitaries, including the Vice-Chancellor of Ahman Patigi University, Professor Kazeem Alagbe Gbolagade, also graced the occasion.

While commending Senator Mustapha’s gesture, Professor Gbolagade described him as a man dedicated to human capital development.

He announced that the university plans to name a building in honour of Senator Mustapha in recognition of his contributions to education.
