President Vladimir Putin of Russia will not attend the funeral of Queen Elizabeth, his spokesman, Dmitry Peskov has said.
Peskov made this revelation during a press briefing on Friday.
The president of Russia’s spokesperson, who revealed that although “Russians respected her for her wisdom,” also disclosed that the attendance of Putin at the funeral of Queen “is not being considered.”
Putin on Thursday expressed his condolences to the new monarch, King Charles III following the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, wishing the new king “courage and resilience.”
A statement released by the Kremlin partly reads, “The most important events of the United Kingdom’s recent history are inextricably bound with the name of Her Majesty. For many decades Elizabeth II rightfully enjoyed her subjects’ love and respect as well as authority on the world stage.”
Queen Elizabeth II, who’s the longest-serving monarch in the history of Britain, died on Thursday at the age of 96.
