Road projects: Traffic diverted as Kwara govt closes Murtala Muhammed Way
The Kwara State Government, through the Ministry of Works, has announced the closure of Murtala Muhammed Way (Unity Flyover Lanes) starting on Saturday, October 19, 2024, to expedite the completion of the ongoing Unity Bridge project.
Engineer Abdulquawiy Olododo, the state Commissioner for Works and Transport, while announcing the closure in a statement by the Press Secretary of the Ministry Olajide Abolarin, said the project aimed to enhance road networks and stimulate economic growth across the state while urging motorists to utilise alternative routes during this period.
The Commissioner reassured residents that the closure had been planned with safety in mind and would improve travel conditions, adding that motorists coming from Ibrahim Taiwo Road should use Post Office Road. At the same time, those approaching from Offa Garage are advised to take Police Road. Additionally, road users coming from Wahab Folawiyo Unity Road should utilise Obbo Road to reach their destinations.
The Commissioner expressed regret for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciates the public’s cooperation while urging motorists to adhere to traffic guidelines and exercise caution while navigating the area.
