Retire from politics now, APC chieftain tells Atiku

A stalwart of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Osita Okechuhwu has advised the presidential candidate of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to retire from politics now.

He also told the presidential candidate to desist from making untrue claims about the February 25 presidential election.

Okechukwu blamed the defeat of the PDP on Atiku’s desperation and crass opportunism.

The APC chieftain frowned at the manner Atiku blamed the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, Peter Obi for his (Atiku’s) unsuccessful outing in the presidential contest.

The Informant247 recalls that the presidential candidate of the PDP, while addressing newsmen in Abuja, the nation’s capital on Friday, disclosed that Obi’s defection to the Labour Party affected the votes of PDP in Southeast and South-south.

While addressing newsmen in Abuja on Sunday, March 5, 2023, the APC chieftain said Atiku’s sense of entitlement did not allow him to take the right decision.

The Director General of Voice of Nigeria (VON), wondered why Atiku portrayed Obi as someone who rushed out of the party when he (Atiku) was the one who masterminded Obi’s defection from the party.

He said Atiku insisted that he would contest against the zoning arrangement, which caused the leader of LP to leave the PDP.

”Now, for Atiku to play the blame game by bellyaching against Mr Peter Obi, who turned out as the hero of the 2023 presidential election, is quite distressing.

”How can Atiku claim that Obi was scared out by PDP Governors when it was public knowledge that his huge war chest and competition with Nyesom Wike made PDP’s primary too contentious and corrupt for Peter Obi?

”It was Atiku’s opportunism that eclipsed the PDP and halted Obi’s hurricane. The simple truth is that His Excellency, Atiku Abubukar’s opportunism eclipsed the PDP.”

The foundation member of the APC also said ”Here was a man who in 2014 defected to APC, on the patriotic premise that the then President Goodluck Jonathan breached the rotation convention between north and south.

”Today, he violently breached the same rotation convention and the constitution of his party with lamentation outcome.”
