Renovation works begin December 27 as Kwara gov approves upgrading of Olofa stadium
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has approved the upgrading of Olofa Stadium to a Grade A-level.
This was contained in a statement released on the verified Facebook page of the State Government on Monday.
The statement reads, “Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has approved the upgrading of the Oloffa Stadium in Offa with the installation of synthetic grass at the edifice and provision of new stands, dressing rooms, referees changing rooms, media tribune and other facilities that will qualify it to host Grade A matches.”
The statement further added that “work will begin at the stadium on December 27, 2021, and would be completed next year (2022)”.
The stadium, after completion, is expected to serve as the makeshift ground for Kwara United who might need to vacate the main bowl of Kwara State Stadium Complex in Ilorin which is also billed to witness a major renovation.
Recall that the League management committee (LMC) had earlier rejected Kwara Stadium complex as the home ground of Kwara United, noting that some of its facilities had fallen off the standard, especially the main artificial turf.
The LMC would eventually grant provisional approval for the stadium to host NPFL games after some level of work had been effected.
Meanwhile, the Executive Chairman of Kwara State Sports Commission had previously disclosed that the government is planning to build a stadium each in all the three Senatorial district of the state.
