Property saved as Kwara fire service contains twin fire incidents in Ilorin
The Kwara State Fire Service has contained two separate fire incidents in Ilorin, the state capital between Thursday, 9 January, and Friday, 10 January 2025.
According to a statement by Hassan Hakeem Adekunle, the Head of Media and Publicity, Kwara State Fire Service, said at about 7:44 pm on Thursday, a distress call reported a fire outbreak at No. 7 Agba Road, Ilorin.
He said upon arrival of firefighters at the scene of the incident, it was discovered that an abandoned building with the fire limited to the facial board was contained to further damage.
Adekunle said the findings revealed that an unknown person set an undergrowth on fire, leading to the incident.

Meanwhile, another fire outbreak in the early hours of Friday, 10 January 2024, was reported at No. 6 New Yidi Road, Ilorin.
According to a statement by Hassan Hakeem Adekunle, the Head of Media and Publicity, Kwara State Fire Service, the affected property, a storey building containing 18 shops, experienced minimal damage as only one shop was affected.
Hassan, while attributing cause of the fire to a power surge, said that it was successfully curtailed due to the quick response and relentless efforts of firefighters.
“The Director of the Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade John, sympathized with the affected individuals and emphasized the need for strict adherence to fire safety and electrical precautionary measures. He also encouraged the public to report fire emergencies promptly to minimize losses.”
