“Project will improve rural infrastructure, boost agricultural development”: Kwara senators, rep commend gov abdulrazaq over rural road projects

Senators Saliu Mustapha and Sadiq Umar, representing Kwara Central and Kwara North respectively in the National Assembly, along with Rep. Muktar Tolani Shagaya of the House of Representatives, have praised Kwara State Governor, H.E. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for his visionary leadership and commitment to enhancing rural infrastructure through the recent flag-off of a significant road construction initiative.

In a post on his personal Facebook page, Senator Mustapha celebrated the commencement of construction, rehabilitation, and upgrades of 209.77 km of rural roads in Kwara State, part of the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP).

He emphasized that this initiative aims to improve rural infrastructure and bolster agricultural development.

“I commend Governor AbdulRazaq for prioritizing the needs of our rural communities,” Mustapha stated.

“This project will not only facilitate easier access to markets for our farmers but also foster economic growth and enhance the overall quality of life for residents. Together, we are making strides toward a more prosperous and connected Kwara State.”

Senator Sadiq Umar, representing Kwara North in the Federal House of Assembly, also commended the governor during the flag-off ceremony.

“Today, I had the privilege of joining His Excellency Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and other esteemed dignitaries at the flag-off of the 209.77 km rural road projects. This monumental effort, which spans across all three senatorial districts, including Kwara North Senatorial District, is a testament to the Governor’s dedication to rural development, agricultural growth, and economic empowerment for our communities.”

Umar further remarked, “The roads will greatly enhance rural connectivity, improve access to markets, strengthen food security, and create jobs in Kwara. I commend the Governor for his visionary leadership and for securing the RAAMP partnership, which will transform the lives of our people and drive sustainable progress across the state.”

Rep. Shagaya echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the project’s potential to unlock economic opportunities for the people of Kwara.

He stressed the recent flag-off of the 209.77 km rural road construction at Madi-Peeke Road in the Asa/Ilorin West Local Government Area, which he believes demonstrates the governor’s commitment to socio-economic growth by opening rural areas for agricultural expansion and investment.

“This initiative will improve road access, streamline the transport of goods, and boost agricultural productivity,” Shagaya noted.

He also congratulated Kwarans on this significant milestone, which he believes will attract more investors and accelerate development across both rural and urban areas.

Governor AbdulRazaq, during the flag-off ceremony, reiterated the state government’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure to drive agricultural growth.

The road projects, costing approximately N19.4 billion, are part of a larger effort under RAAMP, which has seen the government commit at least N4 billion in counterpart funds over the past five years.

The road projects include key routes such as Alapa-Hoko (0.7 km), Madi-Peke (17.5 km), Mandala-Yowere-Agbonna (12.485 km), and many others, designed to facilitate access from the agrarian hinterlands to urban markets and strengthen food security.
