President Buhari appoints Interim Management Committee (IMC) to run Nigeria Basketball
President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed an interim management committee(IMC) to administer basketball in the country.
This was contained in a statement released by the Nigerian Ministry of Youth and Sports development and signed by Mohammed Manga, its Director Press and Public Relations on Monday.
The development is coming barely few weeks after the Federal government placed a two-year ban on the participation of country from international competitions.
The ban, according to Federal government is consequential to the unending crisis that has plagued the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) for the past five years.
The full statement reads: “Following the recent directives of President Muhammadu Buhari on the state of basketball in the country and its withdrawal from all International basketball competitions for the next two years, the Federal Government, through the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development has announced the members of the Interim Management Committee(IMC) to oversee the development of the sport in Nigeria.

“The Committee is to draw up programmes that will revamp basketball from the grassroots in Nigeria, revive its moribund domestic leagues and attract cooperate sponsors for the development of the game”. It added.
