Pregnant Woman dies as Imo doctor allegedly performs CS with help of YouTube video
A doctor in Imo has reportedly performed a Cesarean Section, CS, on a pregnant woman with the help of a YouTube video, resulting in the death of the woman.
CS is the surgical delivery of a baby through a cut made in the birth parent’s abdomen and uterus.
The deceased’s husband, Onyekachi Eze, in a video on social media, was accompanied to the Imo Police Command by popular Nollywood producer Stanley Ontop to report the incident on Tuesday, where he disclosed that the incident happened at Lebechi Hospital in Owerri, the Imo State capital.
Narrating the incident, Eze said, “I carried my wife to the hospital when she was in labour, and the doctor said she needed to undergo an operation because she was bleeding.
“So the female doctor called another doctor to come and operate on her. Right in my presence, they were using their phones to watch a YouTube video on how to perform surgery, and I lost my wife and my baby during the process.”
Shortly after the report, Stanley shared an updated video showing how the police arrested the hospital owner after the doctors absconded.
Captioning the video, he wrote, “The owner of the hospital where doctors were watching YouTube on how to perform surgery on a pregnant woman has been arrested. Nurses were arrested, too, but the doctors who performed the surgery had absconded. They are still being searched for.”
