Postgraduate training: team to evaluate Ilorin General Hospital

A 3-man delegation has commenced evaluation of the General Hospital, Ilorin ahead of its Postgraduate Training.

The visiting team, which was sent from the West African College of Physicians was lead by Dr. Akin Moses of National Hospital Abuja, arrived Ilorin, the state capital over the weekend to evaluate the level of preparedness of the hospital ahead of commencement of its Postgraduate Training Programme.

In a statement signed by the Press Secretary of the ministry, Falade Gbenga Tayo, he disclosed that the team will be evaluating the facilities in place to support the effective service delivery and training of medical personnel under the state health sector in a bid to acquire additional professional qualifications while rendering services to patients.

Receiving the team, the Chief Medical Director of the Hospital, Dr. Abdulkadir Bola Ahmed described “the family medicine as that part of medicine that takes care of the total health of patients.”

The team is expected to submit its report to the West African College of Physicians after its evaluation with a view to formally approving the postgraduate medical training for family medicine in the Kwara State Hospitals.
