Popular singer Portable promises to win Grammy Awards
The popular street singer, Habeeb Okikiola professionally addressed as Portable has declared his readiness to win Grammy Awards.
The Zazoo crooner made this vow while granting an interview.
Portable’s music ambition was unveiled a day after the popular Nigerian Afrobeats singer, Tems won the international awards.
The street singer said the international awards was the only thing he’s pursuing.
He spits fire at some of his colleagues, saying they’re not good at singing good songs.
“Make I no lie you, na to collect grammy, yes na.”
“Best artiste for Africa, number one, that Ika of Africa, that Ika of Africa I must collect that award, if I collect that award, international oh, no be all those local awards, no be all those industry awards, you know say them get caucus.
“Wetin you dey sing, no be all those yeye songs, can you sing life band, can you sing good songs, can’t you sing reality songs, can’t you praise God?”(sic)
On Sunday night, the female singer won the ‘Best Melodic Rap Performance’ category.
Her victory came due to her role in ‘Wait for U’, the 2022 hit song by Future featuring Drake.
The Informant247 recalls that Tems and Burna Boy were the only Nigerian singers nominated for this year’s Grammy Awards.
Burna Boy, could not win the ‘Best Global Music Album’ and the ‘Best Global Music Performance’ categories of the international awards.
The 2023 edition of the Grammy Awards ceremony took place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
