His Grace Group of schools, a popular citadel of learning in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, is in fresh trouble.

This development is coming on the heels of revelation concerning the school that has over the years pulled larger pupils than some of its counterparts in town.

It was gathered, ritual activities and sex scandal are reportedly rocking a branch of the school located in Oyun area of Ilorin.

This revelation is coming after a year when a Yoruba teacher in the school, one Hammed Akorede, allegedly molested a seven years old pupil in the school toilet. Of course, the teacher was reportedly begging for the termination of the case but he has been in and out of courts standing trial over his misdeeds.

The latest twist to the ugly trend in His Grace Group of Schools is the revelation a concerned citizen, who lives very close to where the Oyun branch of the school is located shared with this medium over the reported sacrilegious activities which have been going on in the school.

The school is reportedly owned by husband and wife, Apostle Joshua Adekanye and Mrs Toyin.

A neighbour, Engr. Gobiri Abubakar narrated how members of the public have accused the school proprietors of rituals and of using the said Hammed as a syndicate to perpetuate his dastardly acts.

Abubakar, in his words, said he cannot rule out the speculation that the school is into ritual activities saying all indications are pointing to that claim.

He added that on several occasions, the owners of the school have been reportedly seen performing a sort of propitiation at the school premises, (the branch located beside Labour House in Ilorin.

He added that long before the Yoruba teacher assaulted the innocent girl, the school has been swimming in the pool of scandalous sexual act and rituals.

“My house is very strategic to the school, which offers me the opportunity to observe a lot of things. The rape of an adult is what is prevailing, but the new twist of it, involving minors is very disheartening. The parents particularly the mothers are closer to their children and they need to devote more time to them.

“Parents made mistakes by just dropping the children to pick them up later at the closing hour. By the time they were home, the parents will be stressed up like the children. They don’t know what their children go through in school.

“When the seven years old girl was allegedly molested, parents were aware and instead for some of them to inquire, they dropped their wards and zoom off, they are neither just concerned nor bothered about the incident.

“Recently, a woman stood very close to my window making calls, from her conversation, one will know she’s a security officer. I heard her complaining that her child has been sexually molested in the school. She said she will withdraw her if the proprietor fails to do something urgent and drastic. This is different from one Mr Fadunmade whose daughter was involved.

“On the aspect of rituals, it’s very true that the school is into such. An inordinate quest to acquire wealth drives many people into evil. You cannot rule the issue of rituals out, it’s very true. I’ve heard of it in one of the branches of the school. People have caught them performing rituals in the school arena. It’s very common among the religious faithful.

“There are all possibilities that Hammed, who molested the innocent girl was employed for ritual purpose, this is because, we learnt he’s is not a staff of the wing of the school, (Oyun branch), he came from somewhere. The way that every teacher behaved and other staff of the school on that day shows that the said Hammed perpetrated the act.”

Abubakar however called on the government through the Ministry of Education to rise to the challenge and set up a team who will be monitoring activities of schools particularly, privately owned ones.

Meanwhile, all efforts to reach the proprietor and school management proved abortive as at the time of filling this report.
