Policeman shoots colleague to death in Abia

One Insp. Samuel Ugor has been gunned down by a colleague following a misunderstanding between them.

The Abia Police Command confirmed the incident.

The police command’s spokesperson, SP Godfrey Ogbonna, confirmed the incident to journalists in Umuahia, the capital of the state on Monday.

It was gathered that the police officers were connected to Chief Ginger Onwusibe, a member of State Assembly representing Isiala Ngwa South constituency.

Ogbonna revealed that the incident happened on Saturday and investigation had begun on the issue.

The spokesperson of the command referred to the incident as unfortunate and condemnable.

He said that “the policemen are from SPU Base 15, Anambra, but attached to the legislator.”

Ogbonna explained that the erring police officer is in custody, while the remains of the dead police officer have been moved to the morgue.

“The case is under investigation by SCID to unravel the circumstances that led to the incident,” he further said.
