Police use teargas to disperse Take-It-Back protesters in Rivers

Protests in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, took a violent turn on Monday morning as police attempted to disperse the Take-It-Back movement demonstration. Organizers, including various Civil Society Organizations and the Niger Delta Congress, had gathered at Isaac Boro Park to rally for their cause.

Initially, the police requested that the protesters leave the area, but tensions escalated when the crowd began singing solidarity songs and proceeded to march onto the busy Aba Express Road.

At the CFC junction, police intercepted the protesters, repeating their orders to vacate the street. Despite these warnings, the demonstrators chose to remain, leading police to deploy teargas in an effort to control the situation. The use of teargas resulted in chaos, forcing many participants to scatter as the police sought to restore order.
