Police parade 45 suspects between age 11, 37 years, recover dangerous weapons in Adamawa
The Police Command in Adamawa State has paraded 45 suspects who were apprehended from across the state, within the past week.
While the parade of the suspects was ongoing, at the police headquarters in Yola on Tuesday, an 11-year-old boy, a few other teenagers, and older suspects were shown to the newsmen.
It was gathered that the oldest among them was 37, and they were all males.
The suspects were reported to have involved themselves in acts of robbery, kidnapping, rape, petty theft, among other crimes.
The exhibits and other harmful weapons recovered were displayed along with the suspects.
Recovered were 10 knives and cutlasses, six guns of different sizes, rounds of ammunition, bows and arrows, N900,000 cash and six hand phones.
DCP Ajani Omolabi, the state Deputy Commissioner of Police, who spoke to journalists while the parade of the suspects was ongoing, said the suspects were arrested from their various hideouts by police officers who partook in pre-election crime security exercises.
“The arrests were achieved in active preparation for the 2023 general elections in which the crime-fighting strategies designed by the Command to clear the way for smooth electoral processes and ensure public safety during the election was implemented,” the deputy police chief said.
