Police intensify crackdown on cult clashes in Kwara after 3 deaths
Ilorin, Kwara State – In a recent surge of violence in Ilorin, Kwara State, three individuals believed to be cult members lost their lives as clashes between rival groups reignited on Monday.
The Kwara State Police Public Relations Officer, Ajayi Okasanmi, confirmed the fatalities and emphasized the law enforcement’s commitment to quelling these activities.
He identified the most affected areas as Idi-Ape, Gambari, Babooko, and Surulere.
“To address this, the police have launched aggressive operations targeting known trouble spots, increased stop-and-search efforts, and imposed strict regulations on motorcycle and tricycle operations outside the permitted hours, which are between 9 pm and 6 am daily,” Okasanmi stated.
“These measures aim to curb the activities of these troublemakers. Anyone caught engaging in criminal activities, regardless of their affiliation, will be apprehended and prosecuted.”
Furthermore, Okasanmi urged parents and guardians to caution their children and wards against venturing into areas prone to these groups’ activities and to discourage them from participating in destructive acts within society.
