Police arrest suspected notorious cultist on wanted list in Ogun
The Ogun State Police Command, Wednesday, announced that it has apprehended a notorious cultist/armed robbery suspect, Christian Peter, in Mowe area of the state.
The spokesperson of the police in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi, made this revelation in a statement made available to newsmen in Abeokuta, the state capital.
According to Oyeyemi, the suspect has been on the police wanted list for a while and has been responsible for many atrocities in the state.
“The suspect who has been on the wanted list of the command for quite some time now was arrested while the Divisional Police Officer, Mowe Division, CSP Folashade Tanaruno, was on routine patrol of Mowe/Ofada road. He is one of the hoodlums terrorizing Mowe/Ofada axis in recent time,” he said.
The suspect was reportedly seen by the Divisional Anti-Robbery Team around one hotel in the Olororo area of Mowe with a waist bag.
He said the suspect attempted to run away upon sighting officers of the police, and was however arrested.
The police spokesman said, a locally made double barrel pistol loaded with four live cartridges was recovered from the suspect while his bag was searched.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Lanre Bankole, ordered that the suspect be immediately sent to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for thorough investigation.
