Police arraigns man bathed with acid in Ilorin for stealing purse

The Kwara State Police command has arraigned one Yusuf Isiak, who was bathed with acid by members of the community for stealing a purse belonging to one Oladele Ruth of Iyana Olodo, airport area, Ilorin.

Police report revealed that Isiak, with his accomplice, Rasaq Sikiru, were about to be set ablaze by the angry mob when police officers from Adewole Police station came to their rescue.

The prosecutor, Innocent Owoola, informed the court that Sikiru could not be arraigned because he’s currently recieving treatment at police clinic.

He urged the court to remand Isiak on the basis that his alleged offences are not ordinarily bailable and that the issue of theft must be handled with all seriousness.

Isiak’s counsel, Barrister Sulaiman, prayed the court to discountenance the submission of the prosecutor on health ground saying his client needs serious medical attention before he could fully recover from tortures he suffered from members of the community.

Magistrate H.D Muhammed, however, admitted Isiak to bail in the sum of two hundred thousand naira with two sureties while the matter was adjourned to 24th of this month for either mention or hearing.
