Police apprehend ‘fake’ EFCC officers extorting Delta residents
The Delta State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of five suspects who unlawfully paraded themselves as officers of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The police command said the suspects have confessed to robbing people in various parts of the state.
The spokesperson of the Delta State police command, Bright Edafe, in a statement released on Friday, said activities of the suspected impersonators will trigger the #EndEFCC agitation in the state in October.
The suspects are 29 year old Prince Allison, 29 year old George Onyeweagu, 40 year old Duke Okoro, Joseph Osinachi, and 32 year old Onyocha Sunday.
Edafe said that one of the victims of the suspects explained that how they stormed his house at night, kidnaped him and forcefully dispossessed him of a cash transfer of N2,500,000.
“Six of their victims have also identified them, one of their victims stated that his house was stormed at night by the syndicate,” the Delta police spokesperson said.
“They gained entrance into the compound by scaling the fence, broke into his apartment, forcefully abducted and took him away in a white Toyota Hiace bus.
“They forcefully collected his phones from him, other valuables worth three million, seven hundred thousand naira (N3,700,000), made a cash transfer of two million, five hundred thousand naira (N2,500,000) and told him that they will come for him again.”
The Informant247 learned that some angry youth in the state, in October, blocked some roads in some locations of the state to agitate the constant arrest of youths by EFCC officers.
