Police apprehend ex-convict over traffic robbery in Lagos

The Lagos Police have apprehended an ex-convict, Emmanuel Sunday, over alleged traffic robbery in Ketu, Kosofe Local Government Area.

The spokesperson of the police in the state, SP Benjamin Hundeyin has announced the arrest via a statement.

Sunday, who’s notorious for robbing motorists of their belongings, was arrested by the Rapid Response Squad (RRS).

He was arrested when the officials of the RRS working as intelligence officers sighted him while trying to steal a motorist’s phone at Ojota Underbridge.

The spokesman of the police has said that the 32-year-old confessed that he was recently set free from prison.

He was arrested by the Alapere Police Division earlier in the year over stealing, and was sent to a three-month jail term in Kirikiri Correctional facility.

The arrest of Sunday came following the deployment of intelligence officers to search the areas with incidences of traffic robbery, the spokesperson added.

The Lagos Commissioner of Police, CP Abiodun Alabi has ordered increased patrol to get other traffic robbers in the state.
