Police apprehend 5 persons over alleged robbery in Ota

The Ogun Police Command has said that it has apprehended five persons, suspected to be robbers of a firm in Ota in the Ado- Odo Ota Local Government Area of the state.

The Police spokesperson in the state, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi through a statement in Ota on Thursday, said the suspects were arrested on Monday.

The spokesperson revealed their names as Umar Haruna, Abbah Yahaya, Muritala Umar, Wale Fadeyi and Segun olofinmade.

He disclosed that the suspects were apprehended after a distress call got to the police at the Sango-Ota Divisional Headquarters at about 12:30a.m. on Monday.

“They (suspected robbers) were about 10 in number, they came in a Mitsubishi Canter bus with registration number LSR 414 YF.

“They forcefully gained access into Balita Company and carted away motor engines being sold by the company,” Oyeyemi said.

The spokesman revealed that 10 motor engines were discovered in the vehicle which was made use for the robbery.

The image maker of the police in the state said that preliminary investigation indicated that an ex chief security officer of the firm planned the robbery.

He explained that Lanre Bankole, the Commissioner of Police, had ordered that the matter be moved to the State Criminal Investigation Departments for necessary investigation.

“A massive manhunt for the fleeing suspects and the former chief security officer has also been ordered,“ Oyeyemi said.
