Police affirm decline of IPOB activities in southeast, urges citizens to resume daily lives

The Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 9 Umuahia, Mr. Kanayo Uzuegbu, has announced that the activities of the Indigenous People’s of Biafra (IPOB) are diminishing in the Southeast region.

Speaking during an official visit to the Ebonyi State Police headquarters, he reassured the public that they can conduct their daily activities without fear of attack or intimidation.

AIG Uzuegbu emphasized the importance of professionalism within the police force, urging officers to avoid any behaviors that could tarnish the image of the police. He stated, “Our police job is a law established by the constitution. We have a fundamental duty to secure our land.” He called on officers to adhere strictly to their duties, warning against extortion and unethical conduct.

“We are trying to put our house in order and ensure that things are done very well,” he said, highlighting the importance of professionalism and accountability in law enforcement. AIG Uzuegbu noted, “IPOB involvement in the southeast is dying off. Our policemen are doing a fantastic job.”

He remarked on the success of police operations in dismantling IPOB enclaves and stressed the need for a focused approach to deal with any remaining threats. He encouraged citizens to go about their business confidently, stating, “All those thoughts of IPOB exist only in our imagination and the mind of people who are afraid of the unknown.”

In addition, the Ebonyi State Commissioner of Police, Mrs. Adaku Uche Anya, praised the command’s achievements in fighting crime, assuring AIG Uzuegbu that the police will continue to work diligently to maintain safety and security in the state. She emphasized the commitment to ensure a crime-free environment for residents.
