Nigerian President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday in Guinea Bissau, joined other leaders to celebrate the country’s 50th independence anniversary.
Tinubu who is in the West African country at the behest of President Umaro Embaló said Nigeria is committed to supporting peace and democracy not only in Guinea Bissau, but in the sub-region, and the world.
The Informant247 had earlier reported that in commemoration of Guinea-Bissau’s 50th Independence Anniversary and Armed Forces Day, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will on Thursday, join other heads of state and government in Bissau, to celebrate the country’s golden jubilee.
Following his week-long engagement in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where he participated in the Saudi-Africa summit held on November 10, the president will be visiting Guinea-Bissau for the second time in his administration, this time at the behest of President Umaro Embalo.
In a statement signed on Wednesday by the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale revealed that Guinea-Bissau marked its 50th Independence Anniversary on September 24, 2023.
However, the government had scheduled all celebrations for November 16, 2023.
The statement titled ‘President Tinubu honours invitation to Guinea-Bissau for Independence Day commemoration,’ also disclosed that the President is expected to return to Nigeria on Thursday.
