Peter Obi sends powerful message to Nigerian workers on May 1

The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, has sent his goodwill message to workers in Nigeria as they celebrate Workers’ Day on May 1, 2023.

Obi told Nigerian workers to keep to values that can render the country productive.

He motivated them to see reasons to contribute to nation building.

He said Nigeria will move forward the moment everyone sees it as duty to build the nation.

He said the country has a committed working population who are prepared for Nigeria’s development.

He said despite the poor welfare of the workers, they have continued to work hard for the country.

He said: “I encouraged the workers not to be disheartened by the many challenges that, today, pervade the economic and political space of the nation.

“I also urged everyone to remain focused on building a more productive and prosperous nation, which is part of the offerings of the New Nigeria.

“I want to assure you that the forces of darkness that have held this nation bound for long, will not continue to have their way. We are determined to take back our nation for good and we are not giving up.

“I urge you all to remain steadfast. The sun of justice, peace, and development will soon shine on our nation.”

Workers’ Day: Nigeria declares Monday public holiday

The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Monday May 1 a public holiday to celebrate 2023 Workers Day.

This was revealed by the minister of interior, Rauf Aregbesola on Friday April 28.

The public holiday was declared by the permanent secretary of the ministry, Shuaib Belgore on behalf of the minister.

He praised the workforce for its sacrifice, hardwork and diligence.

He credited the efforts of the working population for the development of the country and how Nigeria is viewed by the public.

Aregbesola said, “There is dignity in labour, we have to have dedication and commitment to the work we do because it is vital to nation-building.”

He encouraged the workers to remain productive, saying : “The end of work is productivity. It is productivity that leads to the satisfactory provision of goods and services and wealth creation.

“It is therefore the path to national and individual prosperity.”

He saluted security agents for their achievements so far in their struggle against crimes in the country.
