Peter Obi reveals what to do if Tinubu invites him into his gov’t
The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, Peter Obi has revealed what he would do if he’s called on to join the Government of National Unity proposed by the President-elect, Senator Bola Tinubu.
The presidential candidate made this revelation while granting a television interview on Thursday March 16, 2023.
The Informant247 recalls that Tinubu’s camp had hinted that there would be an all-inclusive government to ensure that all opponents of the APC candidate are carried along in his government.
When asked what he would do if he’s invited to be part of Tinubu’s Government of National Unity, Obi said he still has his case in the court to challenge the process and the declaration of the election.
He said, “The first thing I want to see is that the process is right. The process through which you achieve anything is far more fundamental than what you do thereafter. Let us go back first, I am challenging the process and the declaration.
“Until we get it right, then we can talk about a government of national unity. Otherwise, we would go and sit down and say that those who stopped a train and kidnapped people can call us to discuss peace when they have people in captivity. Until things are done rightly, we will be encouraging what we don’t need to encourage,” he said.
Obi proceeded: “Issues about the election will be sorted out in court. I will be shocked if this country goes on with that situation. It will then stand that it is a corporate criminalised country. We can’t allow it. We need to start unbundling this criminality.
“When people were talking about structure, it is this fraud and criminality that we witnessed that they were talking about, and we want to unbundle it for the sake of our children.”
2023 Polls: I trust judiciary will do the right thing — Peter Obi
Peter Obi said that he trusts that the Nigerian judiciary would do the right thing in regards to the petitions arising from the February 25 presidential elections.
He said he believes that the justices are Nigerians and have knowledge of what the country is passing through, as only justice and truth can secure the country.
“They, the Justices desire a better Nigeria for themselves and their children and that can only come through doing the right thing and telling the people the truth of any situation.
“For me, I have no cause to doubt the courts, it’s we the politicians that are bent on corrupting every aspect of our national life,” he stated.
He said he would be surprised if the country decides to go ahead with the rascality of criminality.
He said he was disheartening that the country cannot organize a simple election when smaller countries like Ghana can deliver theirs.
Obi reaffirmed that outcome of the election results was false, and there’s the reason he’s challenging the process and the declaration.
“My trust in INEC has evaporated with what they did on February 25, setting out a rule for the election and abandoning it in the middle of the game,” he added.
