Peter Obi commiserates with Imo govt over recent tragic incidents that claimed lives, injured others

The 2023 Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has commiserated with the Governor of Imo State, Hope Odidika Uzodinma, over a fatal road accident that killed no fewer than 20 people, including a commercial bus driver and two conductors.
He also extended his condolence to the Imo people over the recent explosion that claimed two lives, injured to persons at Orlu International Market, near Mbari Okporo area of the State.
Obi expressed sadness over the tragic incident in a post via his official X handle, on Thursday.
He wrote; “My heart goes out to the government and people of Imo State over the wave of tragic events that occurred in the State recently.
“First was a reported improvised explosive device (IED) explosion at Orlu International Market, which claimed precious lives and injured many others.
“The State was still reeling from the shock of the explosion when a fatal accident occurred around Njaba area of the State, claiming no fewer than 20 casualties.
He called on the state Government to launch a probe into the circumstances surrounding the explosion and other similar incidents to avert future occurrences.
“I am sincerely saddened by these tragic occurrences which has left families in grief. I strongly urge the State government to deeply investigate and ensure that the circumstances surrounding the explosion is unraveled, to prevent future recurrence.
“I sincerely condole with all the affected families, the State government and people of Imo over these painful incidents.
“May God give them, and all of us, the fortitude to bear the losses and the strength to support one another in these challenging times.
“May God grant eternal rest to the dead and grant quick recovery to the injured”, the post concluded.
Recall that on Tuesday, an explosion rocked Imo State, killing two young men, suspected to be members of the proscribed IPOB/ESN, who were carrying an improvised explosive device (IED) on a motorcycle with the intention of planting it at Orlu International Market, near Mbari Okporo.
Also on the same day, no fewer than twenty persons reportedly lost their lives when an 18-seater bus collided with a Corolla car at Njaba bridge in Njaba Local Government Area of the State.
