Brazil football legend Pelé will be buried today after a procession of his coffin in Santos.
Edson Arantes do Nascimento loosely named as Pele died at the age of 82 on 29 December after a long battle with colon cancer.
A Catholic mass will be celebrated in Santos this morning before his burial at a nearby cemetery.
He will be buried at the Memorial Necropole Ecumenica, a vertical cemetery in Santos, only in the presence of family today.
His final resting place is a high-rise block just 200 metres away from the stadium.
The new President of Brazil, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, will lead other dignitaries at the mass this morning before Pele’s coffin is paraded through the streets of Santos and pass in front of the home of his 100-year-old mother, Celeste.
