PDP zones presidential ticket to south ahead of 2027 elections
In a strategic move leading up to the 2027 general elections, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially zoned its presidential ticket to the south during the 102nd National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting.
The announcement was made by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, who addressed the media following the meeting held in Abuja on Monday.
Ologunagba explained that this decision was based on a report presented by the Zoning Committee, which is chaired by Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri.
The NEC also took the opportunity to express its contentment with the preparations underway for the upcoming November elective convention.
“The NEC recommended that the North and South should retain their current NWC positions,” he stated, emphasizing the party’s commitment to its existing governance structure. “NEC also resolved that since the National Chairman of the party is zoned to the North, the Presidential ticket is hereby zoned to the South.”
