PDP govs slam ADC’s comments on Zamfara meeting
The People’s Democratic Party Governors Forum (PDP-GF) has condemned the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for its remarks regarding the PDP’s recent meeting in Gusau, Zamfara, labeling the comments as irresponsible.
In a statement from its Director-General, Dr. Emmanuel Agbo, the PDP-GF criticized the ADC for failing to show empathy and suggested that a visit to the affected states would have been more appropriate than “playing to the gallery.”
The ADC had condemned the recent violence in Zamfara and Katsina, particularly the attack on worshippers, urging a state of emergency in those regions.
The ADC’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, also accused PDP governors of insensitivity for holding a political meeting in Zamfara shortly after tragic killings.
“This act alone further underlines an important fact; neither the ruling APC nor the incurably afflicted PDP care about the people and their suffering. They only care about power and politics,” Abdullahi stated.
In response, Agbo described the ADC as a “one chance vehicle” party and emphasized that the PDP does not play politics with human lives. He clarified that the meeting was scheduled in advance and focused on addressing the country’s security challenges.
“The security situation in the country is of grave concern to the PDP governors; it took center stage in our deliberation and resolution as contained in the communique,” Agbo noted. He also highlighted the PDP’s commitment to addressing insecurity and urged the federal government to enhance measures to protect citizens.
Despite the tensions, Agbo expressed that the door remains open for reconciliation with the ADC, provided they approach with genuine remorse.
