PDP crisis deepens as ex-spokesman Ologbondiyan resigns party membership

Kola Ologbondiyan, theformer national publicity secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on Saturday, announced his resignation from the party amid internal crisis battling opposition.

Ologbondiyan, who once served as the spokesperson of the PDP, submitted his resignation at his Okekoko Ward in Kabba Local Government Area of Kogi State, saying he had taken time to observe the party’s direction in recent months and concluded that the PDP has derailed from the values and cohesion that once made it a formidable national political force.

According to him: “Having carefully reviewed the recent activities, tendencies, and direction of the Peoples Democratic Party, I have come to the conclusion that it is time for me to move on. It is on this note that I am here today to formally tender my resignation from the PDP to the ward executives, for onward transmission in accordance with the tradition of our party.”

His departure adds to the growing list of prominent PDP chieftains who have left the party in recent months amid dissatisfaction with its leadership crisis, unresolved factional disputes, and declining electoral influence.
