Patigi bye-election: Maigida’s ex-aide emerges PDP candidate

A former Senior Special Assistant on land matters to the ex-Kwara Governor, AbdulFatai Ahmed, Muhammad Salihu Yahaya has emerged the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the Patigi State Assembly bye-election.

Yahaya, who was also the party’s flagbearer in the last election, polled 140 votes to defeat his rivals.

He will represent the party in the March 14 bye-election election.

Recall that the younger brother of the late Ahmed Saidu Rufai, Ahmed Adam Rufai, emerged the candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) for the bye-election.

Rufai was affirmed as the APC candidate by 4587 party chieftains and members at an affirmation exercise conducted on Friday by a six-person committee from the national headquarters of the ruling APC in Abuja.
