Oyabambi congratulates ten Kwara monarchs elevated to first-class status

A United States-based chieftain, Otunba Adetunji Oyabambi, has congratulated the ten traditional rulers recently elevated to first-class status by the Kwara State Government.

He described the development as a significant boost to the traditional institution and grassroots development in the state.

Oyabambi, in a statement made available to journalists on Friday, said the elevation of the monarchs reflects their dedication to the growth of their respective communities and their roles in fostering peace, unity, and cultural preservation.

He noted that the honour was a clear recognition of the sacrifices and leadership qualities demonstrated by the royal fathers over the years.

“I extend my heartfelt congratulations to all the ten royal fathers on their well-deserved elevation to first-class status. This recognition is a testament to your unwavering commitment to the peace, progress, and development of your domains,” he said.

The chieftain added that the elevation would further strengthen the traditional institution and position the monarchs to contribute more meaningfully to governance and community advancement.

“This historic decision will undoubtedly enhance your influence and capacity to drive development at the grassroots. It also reaffirms the critical role traditional rulers continue to play in nation-building and conflict resolution,” Oyabambi stated.

He expressed confidence that the newly elevated monarchs would justify the confidence reposed in them by continuing to uphold values of integrity, fairness, and service to their people.

“I have no doubt that you will continue to lead with wisdom, promote unity among your subjects, and work collaboratively with the government to bring about sustainable growth and prosperity in your communities,” he added.

Oyabambi also described the elevation as a morale booster for other traditional rulers across the state, urging them to remain steadfast in their commitment to peace and development.

“This honour should inspire even greater dedication among our traditional leaders. The institution remains a vital pillar of our society, and its strengthening is key to achieving lasting peace and development,” he said.

He prayed for long life, good health, and impactful reigns for all the monarchs, expressing optimism that their new status would attract more opportunities and infrastructural development to their domains.

The Kwara State Government had approved the elevation of no fewer than ten traditional rulers to first-class status, following the approval of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

The newly elevated monarchs include the Onijagbo of Ijagbo (Oyun), Onipe of Ipee (Oyun), Oloota of Odo-Owa (Oke Ero), Elekan of Ekan (Oke Ero), Olojoku of Ojoku (Oyun), Oloro of Oro (Irepodun), Owalobo of Obbo-Aiyegunle (Ekiti), Olusin of Ijara-Isin (Isin), Elesie of Esie (Irepodun), and Oba Jisunmade of Ayedun (Oke Ero).
