‘Beware of fraudsters, we’ve closed our recruitment portal’ – Customs warns job-seekers The Informant247

Over 200,000 applicants invited for CBT exam as Customs move closer to recruiting 3,927

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has officially invited 286,697 applicants to participate in a computer-based test for the 3,927 job vacancies advertised across the Superintendent, Inspectorate, and Customs Assistant cadres.

This recruitment exercise, launched on December 27, 2024, garnered a remarkable 573,523 applications in its initial phase.

In a statement by Abdullahi Maiwada, NCS’s National Public Relations Officer, it was confirmed that after a thorough documentary review, the shortlisted candidates were selected to advance to the next stage.

“The second stage of the exercise is set to take place between September 14th and 21st, 2025, through an online Computer-Based Test (CBT),” Maiwada stated.

He emphasized that candidates can take the test from any location with reliable internet but must utilize a laptop or desktop computer equipped with a webcam and a full-screen display, as mobile phones are not supported.

Maiwada also highlighted the importance of preparation, noting, “A facial-verification check will occur at login, and candidates are advised to present themselves neatly to avoid recognition issues.”

He cautioned that the CBT application is sensitive to noise and movement, advising candidates to remain still and quiet during the examination to prevent automatic logout.

Furthermore, the NCS has stressed that switching between windows during the test will be flagged as malpractice, potentially leading to disqualification. To aid candidates, a mandatory pre-test exercise will be offered two days prior to the actual CBT to familiarize them with the system.

Lastly, it was noted that candidates who apply for the Superintendent Cadre (Level 8) will be invited to an additional CBT in subsequent phases, a provision not applicable to the Inspectorate and Customs Assistant cadres.

The NCS reiterated that the recruitment process is strictly merit-driven, encouraging all applicants to rely solely on the official communication channels for updates.
