Outstanding Kwara teachers will get mouthwatering package – Olohungbebe boosts workers’ morale

In a bid to encourage commitment and dedication in the teaching profession, the Kwara Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe, has promised a mouthwatering package to outstanding teachers across 16 Local Government Areas would be recognized to encourage commitment and dedication in the teaching profession.

Dr. Olohungbebe made this known on Tuesday during a courtesy visit to the House Committee on Education Chairman, led by Hon. Mohammed Salihu Boriya, who represents the Okuta/Yashikira constituency in Baruten Local Government Area.

During the meeting, the Commissioner sought the full support of the State House of Assembly to complement the Ministry’s efforts in strengthening and improving the educational sector.

Outlining the ministry’s agenda under his watch, Dr. Olohungbebe informed the Committee about the introduction of support service for students, an initiative aimed at creating direct access for students in public schools to share their learning experience with the Commissioner without fear of intimidation, noting that this is to ensure quality and accessible education in a safe environment for all pupils and students across the State.

The Commissioner appreciated the opportunity, saying, “It gives me great pleasure to be here today. We must maximize every opportunity and work towards the sustainability of our efforts to revamp the education sector.”

He commended the Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq (CON), and the House of Assembly members for entrusting him with the responsibility of leading the Ministry, pledging to justify his confidence.

Responding, the Chairman, House Committee on Education, Hon. Mohammed Salihu Boriya, congratulated the Commissioner on his appointment, describing him as “a round peg in a round hole.”

He also commended the Governor for making a capable choice and assured the Commissioner of the Committee’s full support and cooperation.

“There must be a cordial and harmonious relationship between the House of Assembly and the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Department to work effectively for the progress of our children’s education,” Hon. Boriya stated.

The meeting was attended by several key stakeholders, including Hon. Oguniyi Seun David (Ojomu/Balogun, Offa), Hon. Abduraheem Medinat (Lanwa/Ejidongari, Moro), Hon. Babatunde Ayi Olatundun (Ilorin North/West), Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Olanrewaju Rebecca Bake, Mallam Rauf Karatu, and the Committee clerk.
