Osun leads as INEC records over 1m completed voter registrations
No fewer than 1,004,132 Nigerians have successfully completed their continuous voter registration (CVR) in buid up of the 2027 general elections.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), while announcing this on Monday in it’s weekly update, disclosed that the nationwide online pre-registration of voters, which commenced on August 18, 2025, before its physical registrations that commenced the following week on August 25, saw the commission completed registrations, 537, 743 of pre-registered online before completing the process in-person.
The electoral body noted that the remaining 466,389 started and completed the registration process physically.
According to the report based on gender distribution, 555,077 (55.28 percent) of Nigerians who have completed the registration are female while 449,055 (44.72 percent) are male.
According to the data, 742,379 of the total completed registrations were by youths aged 18 to 34, 176,347 were middle-aged from 35 to 49, 76,230 were elderly aged 50 to 69, while 9,176 were aged 70 and above.
However, the states with the highest number of completed registrations are Osun with 107,012, Lagos with 58,460, and Borno with 56,828.
With regards to online pre-registration, INEC said as of September 28, 2025, it had recorded a total of 6,232,673 pre-registrants.
Of this figure, 3,250,338 (52.15 percent) are female while 2,982,335 (47.85 percent) are male.
The commission said Borno leads in online pre-registrations with a total of 682,805, followed by Osun with 599,363 and Lagos with 555,442.
