Osun gov pardons man sentenced to death by hanging for stealing fowl
Ademola Adeleke, the Osun State Governor, has ordered a full investigation into a case of a young man reportedly sentenced to death by hanging for stealing a fowl.
Adeleke, in a statement issued by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, on Tuesday evening, ordered the State’s Attorney-General to intervene and ensure the young man is listed for the prerogative of mercy before the end of the year.
“I have read about the case. I recognise the separation of powers in our democracy. In this particular case, I have directed the Commissioner for Justice to initiate processes to grant a prerogative of mercy to the young man.
