[Op-ed] My take on AbdulRazaq’s 365 days in office

By Comr. Yinka Dallas

May I start by saying that I, Comr. Ayeni Yinka Dallas, the Executive Chairman of Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State who was duly elected through a popular mandate to protect, project and fight for the interest of the good people of Kwara State, would regardless of any temporary or man-made setback always stand tall to echo the voice of my people.

While I wouldn’t want to rehearse where I stand on political issues in the state as it is already a public record, I would be failing my training as a comrade and youth activist if I fail to do an objective analysis of the Kwara State Government which clocked one year few days back.

I’ll however be restricting my assessment to activities in my LGA, for obvious and clear reasons that charity begins at home and the youth constituency which I’ve used my teenage and adult life to represent and project.

I must say I am not a man given to unnecessary commendation, but judging from what I’ve seen with my physical eyes in Ekiti local government, I’ll say with all modesty the Governor haven’t done badly for the good people of Ekiti.

One of the major contribution of the AbdulRazaq administration in Ekiti LGA is the
reconstruction of the important Awele Bridge linking Obbo-Ile to Isapa, which is one of the most important link roads for communities the the LGA.

I have also seen his intervention in the educational sector, ranging from the renovation of schools across in Osi, Isolo, Isapa among several others.

The Osi township road begging for attention for years was also touched and it is worthy of note that, the quality of the road is topnotch and deserves kudos.

I am however not too happy that the Kwara State University, Ekiti campus have remained a dream, the people of Ekiti LGA are desirous of seeing the construction completed and academic activities kicking off in earnest, it is my hope the Governor will prioritise it in his second year.

The same thing goes for several other roads in the LG from Eruku, to Obbo-ayegunle leading to the State’s borders with Ekiti and Kogi States respectively, I hope they’ll receive deserved attention in the administration’s second year.

Finally, as a youth stakeholder in the State, I am elated with the appointment of a youthful commissioner from my LG and also the appointment of a longstanding loyalist of the governor as SA Domestic who is also a youth, among several others.

It is hoped that we’ll see more of such appointments in the coming days, as that’s the only way the Governor can show he’s a youth loving and friendly person.
