One killed in Kano gas explosion
The Kano State Fire Service has verified that one person died in a gas explosion in Ijarawa Community, Bichi Local Government Area of the state.
One other person survived the incident.
This was said in a statement released by the fire service’s Public Relations Officer, Alhaji Saminu Abdullahi, on Monday in Kano.
He stated that the event occurred on February 8 in the morning.
“At 07:46 a.m., we got a distress call from Inspector Daiyabu Tukur stating that a truck with cooking gas cylinders had fallen on the road and one of the cylinders had burst.”
“Upon getting the information, we swiftly dispatched our team to the area at around 8:00 a.m. to rescue the casualties,” he said
He stated that the J5 commercial truck, with licence plate FB 52 LAD, was on its way to Katsina from Kano and was transporting cooking gas cylinders.
According to Abdullahi, the accident included two people: Maikano Muhammad, 45, who died, and Abdullahi Usman, 40, who was recovered alive.
“All casualties have been handed over to Usman Usman of the Bichi Police Outpost.”
“The incident’s cause is being investigated,” he stated.
The Public Relations Officer urged drivers transporting volatile items to be more cautious in packaging and driving to avoid deadly road accidents.
