Okorocha asks court to compel EFCC to release him on bail
The former Governor of Imo state, Anayo Rochas Okorocha, has told an Abuja Federal High Court to mandate the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC to immediately set him free on bail.
The former governor has on Friday requested the bail on the ground that he’s currently running for the Nigerian presidency under the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, and his presidential ambition would be jeopardized if not granted bail.
The bail application has been filed before Justice Inyang Eden Ekwo and would be decided upon at any time.
Recall that the alleged lawmaker has been scheduled for arraignment on N2.9 billion money laundering charges before the same judge twice but has refused to make himself available.
Also, EFCC operatives stormed his Abuja house three days ago, arrested and detained him to effect his appearance in court on Monday, May 30.
Details later.
