Nigeria’s first female elected deputy Governor, Ayanke Sinatu Aderoju Ojikutu(Nee Adeoba), has called on Workers across the country to fast and pray on May Day for a better country, Nigeria.

This is contained in her message to the KWARA PEOPLE MAGAZINE Ramadan Lecture, which took place at NUJ Press Center, Ilorin, last weekend.

The former deputy Governor of Lagos state whose message was read by the Publisher of Kwara People magazine, Hon. Abdul-Hameed Oladipupo Alli (Mr. Nigeria), disclosed further that the “Insincerity of leaders in Nigeria, with
no love of the nation or her people, are amongst the problems of the country.”

Ojikutu said the fasting and prayer would help to further secure better future for younger ones, the country and generations yet unborn.

In her words, “all Presidential, Gubernatorial Chairmanship, Senatorial, House of Representatives candidates should renounce their second citizenship of any country with immediate effect to stop the situations where they cart away our wealth and seek protection after sabotaging the country.

She urged Nigerians to start the recitation of the prayer “Oh God, Stop corrupters, end corruption in Nigeria”, saying that should be the simple prayer on the lips of everyone that mean well for the nation.

“As a people, we have to identify what corruption is and call on God for help for the will to stop appreciating corrupters and put an end to it through individual and collective efforts… This is the only way this country will not perish as a nation,” she added.

She emphasised that the prayer point covers the insecurities, poverty and lack of essential amenities currently witnessing across the country which are deeply rooted in corruption.

Ojikutu said, “This May Day should be observed with sobriety and fasting alongside the usual exhibiting of grievances as all these are offshoots of inequalities.

“Sincerity of leadership and followership in dealing with ourselves and the affairs of the nation will foster prosperity.”
