AS Roma Manager,Jose Mourinho has quit the UEFA Football Board.
This is contained in a letter Mourinho addressed to UEFA director and Chief of Football Zvonimir Boban.
His decision to quit reportedly was sequel to the UEFA’s most recent sanctions on Roma which includes a four-match ban for Mourinho in response to his conduct toward referee Anthony Taylor in the aftermath of the Europa League final.
The UEFA Football Board is an advisory board made of former players and elite coaches.
A footage on social media after the final game where Sevilla won on penalties after the game in Budapest showed Mourinho confronting Taylor and his team in the car park and labelling their performance a “disgrace.”
The letter reads:
Dear Mr. Boban,
In thanking you for the invitation you extended to me to be a member of the UEFA Football Board, I regret to inform you that, effective immediately, I will be renouncing to my participation in this group.
The conditions which I so strongly believed in when I joined are no longer standing and I felt the obligation to take this decision.
I kindly ask that you also communicate my decision to the President Mr. Aleksander Čeferin.
Kind regards,
Jose Mourinho
