Offa threatens 14-day quarantine for travellers into city

The Offa COVID-19 technical committee on Sunday warned travellers into the city against violating the government ban on inter-LG travels imposed to tackle the spread of coronavirus.

The Offa Descendants Union PRO, Maruf Olalekan quoted the committee chairman, Prof Waheed Olatinwo as saying that any traveller who breached the order will be quarantined in its isolation facility for 14 days.

The statement reads in part, “The COVID-19 Offa Local Government Technical Committee under the distinguished Chairmanship of Professor Waheed Olatinwo, has passed a resolution that any new entrant to Offa LGA shall be put on Isolation for 14 days at Offa Quarantine Centre in line with the COVID-19 protocols.

“The decision was premised upon
the inter-state ban placed by both the federal and state governments for the prevention of community transmission of COVID-19.

“The Committee however stresses the need not to travel out of base for now by drawing the attention of all and sundry to the COVID-19 protocols of 14 day Isolation that will be henceforth implemented in Offa LGA by the security agencies.”
