Oba Abu, Hakeem Lawal deny receiving money from Gov AbdulRazaq

All Progressive Congress chieftains in Kwara State, Prof. Shuaibu Oba AbdulRaheem and Hakeem Oladimeji Lawal, have debunked claims that they were given some money by the governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to support his candidatute in the last election.

The two ex-gubernatorial aspirants said there was no iota of truth in claims by the state party secretary, Mustapha Ishowo.

A statement credited to Ishowo had alleged all gubernatorial aspirants in the last election of receiving some certain amount of money from AbdulRazaq, who was then the party governorship flagbearer.

Oba Abu, in a statement signed by his media aide, Abdulwahab Alafara and made available to newsmen in Ilorin on Tuesday, said that the allegation was a figment of the imagination of professional political jobbers and propagandists who are out to please whoever their masters.

The statement insisted that there was never a time when he demanded or where such a criminal transaction took-place between him or anyone on his behalf and the Governor or any other person and for whatever reason(s).

On his part, an aide to Hakeem Oladimeji Lawal, Issa Mutolib Ayobami, while debunking the claims demanded apology from the state party secretary.

The statement said, “Hakeem Oladimeji Lawal contributed immensely to the success of the Party, our principal invested both financial and social capital to the success of the Party and the Governor at the polls, and has never asked for anything in return, a decision our principal – Hakeem Oladimeji Lawal has no cause to regret.

“We beseech the Governor to caution overzealous aides and supporters against dragging the names of well meaning party men through the mud in this unnecessary political tussle. We also urge Alhaji Mustapha Ishowo to always avail himself with facts before making claims that are damaging to the image, character and personality of others. Alhaji Ishowo can ask about the financial contributions of our principal to the success of the Governor’s election from the Governor himself.”
